Government allocates more than RD$75 million in incentives to Santo Domingo 2026 medalists
The Dominican government has formalized an economic incentive plan exceeding RD$75 million, aimed at rewarding the outstanding work of the athletes who represented the country at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. This initiative, executed through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (Miderec), seeks to recognize the effort and excellence demonstrated by the national athletes in the regional event.
The initial figure of RD$75.5 million covers the prizes for individual medalists, teams, and federations, an amount that will experience a significant increase once the compensation for the coaching staff is integrated.
Breakdown of incentives
- Individual medalists: An investment of RD$53.7 million has been projected, with prizes of RD$300,000 for gold, RD$150,000 for silver, and RD$100,000 for bronze.
- Team sports: The allocated budget is RD$18.4 million.
- National federations: They will receive a total of RD$15.4 million for their management and results.
It should be noted that the incentives for athletes are cumulative, which directly benefits those who managed to reach the podium on multiple occasions during the event.
Featured figures and special awards
Sprinter Liranyi Alonso positions herself as one of the top beneficiaries after winning four gold medals in the 100 and 200-meter events, in addition to her victories in the mixed and women’s 4×100 relays, accumulating an incentive of RD$1.2 million. Likewise, water skiing shone with Paolo Pigozzi, who will receive RD$700,000 for his three medals, while tennis player Nick Hardt will receive RD$600,000 for his two gold medals.

In the field of volleyball, captain Brenda Castillo will receive special recognition. In addition to the official incentive for the team’s gold medal, the Directorate of Women’s National Teams, headed by Cristóbal Marte, has announced an additional bonus equivalent to the state prize, plus RD$250,000 for each individual distinction obtained as best libero, defender, and receiver.
Recognition for coaches
The coaching staff is also an essential part of this incentive program. Coaches will be rewarded with RD$200,000 for each gold medal, RD$100,000 for silver, and RD$75,000 for bronze. Unlike the athletes, this benefit is not cumulative, with the value corresponding to the highest-ranking medal under their supervision being awarded.

These incentives exceed the amounts granted in previous editions, such as San Salvador 2023, reflecting the State’s commitment to sports development. With the attainment of 150 medals in Santo Domingo 2026, the Dominican Republic reaffirms its position as an emerging and consolidated power in the Caribbean and Central American sports landscape.
