Ferran Torres prepares for his transfer to Paris Saint-Germain
FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of forward Ferran Torres. The operation, valued at approximately 50 million euros, is close to being finalized, with the clubs putting the finishing touches on the exchange of the necessary documentation to formalize the move before the weekend ends.
Torres’ decision to seek new challenges in the French capital accelerated talks between both boards. Although the Azulgrana club initially rejected an opening offer, a satisfactory meeting point was finally reached for all parties involved.
Career in Barcelona and new horizons
The 26-year-old attacker, who missed recent training sessions with the Catalan club to manage his departure, thus concludes a period that began in January 2022 following his arrival from Manchester City. During his time in Barcelona, he played 207 official matches, recording 65 goals and 23 assists. His performance reached a highlight last season, where he was the player with the most appearances for the team, totaling 49 matches and 21 goals.
The Spanish forward arrives at PSG after a remarkable season with Barcelona and after establishing himself as a key figure for the Spanish national team by scoring the decisive goal that secured the world title this summer.
Reconfiguration of templates
Torres’ departure occurs in a context of offensive renewal for Hansi Flick’s team, which recently incorporated Anthony Gordon, Karim Adeyemi, and Jesse Bisiwu. The club also maintains interest in Julián Álvarez, although negotiations with Atlético de Madrid remain a complex challenge.
For its part, Paris Saint-Germain is betting on the arrival of Torres to bolster its attack, especially following the absences of Gonçalo Ramos and Randal Kolo Muani. This move marks a reunion for the forward with Luis Enrique, the coach who trusted in his talent during his time in charge of the Spanish national team.
Competition in Paris
- PSG seeks to consolidate a high-level forward line following their recent signings such as Maghnes Akliouche.
- Ferran Torres will fight for a spot in the starting eleven alongside figures of the stature of Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Désiré Doué.
