FENATRAPEGO supports Juan Manuel Méndez’s openness to dialogue at INTRANT
The president of the National Federation of Transporters Friends of Peña Gómez (FENATRAPEGO), Eddy Francisco Sánchez, has expressed his support for the management of the new director of the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT), Juan Manuel Méndez. The leader positively valued the willingness to engage in dialogue shown by the official, describing it as a fundamental step to jointly address the challenges facing the transportation system in the Dominican Republic.
According to Sánchez, Méndez’s openness to listening to the concerns and proposals of the various stakeholders in the sector creates a favorable scenario for implementing consensus-based solutions that benefit drivers, users, and society as a whole.
Commitment to the fare rate
During a recent meeting between the leaders of the G-12 bloc and the authorities of INTRANT, various topics of national interest were discussed. One of the most prominent points was the confirmation by the transport operators to keep the fare unchanged, with the aim of avoiding further economic burdens on the citizenry.
We value that the new director of Intrant, Juan Manuel Méndez, has shown an open attitude to dialogue with transport operators. We understand that transport problems cannot be solved unilaterally, but rather through the participation of all sectors involved and with a vision of the State.

The transport sector, represented by FENATRAPEGO, has expressed its interest in maintaining a permanent communication channel with the authorities. The main objective is to reach agreements that allow for the improvement of working conditions, the enhancement of service quality, and the guarantee of greater road safety on the country’s highways.
Juan Manuel Méndez García, who also leads the Emergency Operations Center (COE), was appointed to the position by President Luis Abinader on August 19, 2026. His management at the head of INTRANT takes on significant challenges, including:
- Strengthen traffic management and urban mobility.
- Reduce traffic accident rates.
- Mitigate vehicular congestion on main roads.
- Optimize the organization of the land transport system.
Méndez’s arrival at the agency comes at a key moment, where modernization and efficiency in mobility are priorities for the public administration and a constant demand of the Dominican population.
