Fedombal boosts young talent with national women’s basketball camps
The Dominican Basketball Federation (Fedombal) has launched an ambitious series of camps aimed at strengthening the women’s national pre-selection team. This program seeks to consolidate the generational transition and prepare the future stars of Dominican sports with an eye toward international competitions projected for the year 2027.
The initiative is specifically aimed at young athletes in the U-16 and U-17 categories, covering players born in the years 2010 and 2011. Through this effort, the goal is to expand the talent base and provide technical, physical, and competitive monitoring at a national level.
Strategic call in the Eastern Region
Under the motto “Working today for the future of women’s basketball,” the Federation has organized a series of regional meetings to identify promising hoop and ball talents. The first phase of this call will be divided into two strategic locations next Saturday, September 5, 2026, starting at 9:30 in the morning:
- La Romana Headquarters: Aimed at the associations of La Romana, Higüey, and El Seibo, with activity at the Eleoncio Mercedes Sports Center.
- San Pedro de Macorís Headquarters: Focused on the associations of Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, and San Pedro de Macorís, taking place at the local Sports Complex.
The relay is in training. We seek to turn emerging talent into the next generation that will proudly represent the Dominican Republic on international stages.
Fedombal
A commitment to comprehensive development
The success of this project lies in the close collaboration between Fedombal and the provincial associations, which act as the first filter in the detection and training of the athletes. This coordinated work not only allows for the identification of innate skills, but also ensures systematic support in the athletic growth of the young women.
With these actions, Alofoke Deportes highlights the federation’s commitment to institutionalizing talent scouting, ensuring that Dominican women’s basketball has a solid, competitive structure prepared for the upcoming challenges in the Olympic and regional cycle.
