Commercial strengthening: Dominican Republic and Honduras celebrate the fourth Business Forum
In the city of Tegucigalpa, the fourth edition of the Business Forum for Export, Import, Investment, and Tourism was held, a key event for regional integration and economic development between the Dominican Republic and Honduras. The event, held at the headquarters of the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI), reaffirmed the ties of cooperation between both nations.
This meeting brought together prominent figures from the public and private sectors of both countries, with the fundamental purpose of identifying new opportunities for trade, attracting foreign investment, and consolidating strategic alliances that drive mutual growth in strategic sectors.
A high-level delegation
The Dominican delegation was led by government authorities, including Andrés Lugo, Zanony Severino, Mérido Torres, Welinton Grullón, and David Herrera. The group included more than 24 business leaders from various sectors, ranging from the rum and jewelry industries to the real estate market, automotive spare parts, and the chacabana textile sector.
The event focused on vital thematic axes such as the analysis of the trade balance, the simplification of logistics processes, and the promotion of public-private partnerships to boost the regional economy.
Strategic axes of the forum
- Trade and exchange: Identification of new market niches and optimization of import and export procedures.
- Investment attraction: Presentation of incentive frameworks and promotion of foreign direct investment.
- Tourism development: Transfer of best practices from the Dominican hotel model to strengthen tourism infrastructure in Honduras.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the institutional backing of CABEI, along with the support of the Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP) and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FEDECAMARA). The collaboration between these organizations allowed for the realization of business matchmaking sessions where significant commercial transactions were finalized.
To ensure the continuity of these efforts, a follow-up agenda was established that includes permanent technical roundtables. The ultimate goal is to consolidate both Honduras and the Dominican Republic as top-tier strategic partners, leveraging the competitive advantages and logistical infrastructure offered by the Caribbean and Central American region.
