In a forceful call for institutional transparency, the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Santiago, Monsignor Andrés Amauri Rosario Henríquez, has requested that the selection process for judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) be carried out with total independence, prioritizing integrity and professional capacity over any partisan agenda.
The representative of the Catholic Church emphasized that the Dominican judicial system requires figures who prioritize the well-being of society and the strengthening of the rule of law over private or group interests.
The warning about political interference
During his statements offered after officiating a mass at the Santiago Apóstol Cathedral, the clergyman expressed his deep concern regarding the possible consequences of allowing political interests to permeate the election of magistrates.
