Public Health strengthens malaria capabilities in Monseñor Nouel
The Provincial Health Directorate (DPS) of Monseñor Nouel carried out an important training session focused on the control and eradication of malaria. The event, held in the hall of the Provincial Development Council, brought together 60 health professionals from First Level Centers and local hospitals with the aim of updating their technical skills.
During eight hours of intensive training, medical and administrative staff delved into the DTI-R strategy, which comprises Diagnosis, Treatment, Investigation, and Result. This methodology is fundamental for optimizing epidemiological surveillance and ensuring a rapid response to any potential outbreak in the province.

- General information and prevention: Dr. María Esther Martínez presented on the clinical picture, symptomatology, and methods for disease prevention.
- DTI-R implementation: Dr. Diana Taveras detailed how to integrate these components to improve timely patient care.
- Data management: Dr. Addia Santos provided instructions on the accurate completion of epidemiological forms and the uploading of information into official systems.
- Supply management: Technician Shanelly Reyes conducted a practical demonstration on the use, storage, and organization of malaria boxes using specialized kits.
This day is part of the DPS’s ongoing efforts to improve the capabilities of healthcare personnel, ensuring effective epidemiological surveillance and timely diagnosis that allows for progress toward the elimination of malaria in our region.
