Strategic alliance: DGDC and JCI Dominican Republic will promote youth and community development
The General Directorate for Community Development (DGDC) and Junior Chamber International Dominican Republic (JCI RD) have formalized an inter-institutional collaboration agreement with the firm purpose of boosting social impact projects and strengthening youth leadership throughout the national territory.
This agreement establishes a roadmap for the coordination of resources, capabilities, and joint efforts, focused on the planning and execution of initiatives that foster the growth of Dominican communities. The signing was led by Dr. Modesto Guzmán, head of the DGDC, and Patricia Lapaix Alvarado, national president of JCI Dominican Republic.
This alliance is born from a shared vision: to work for stronger communities, better-prepared youth, and a society with greater opportunities for all. Youth represents one of the main transformative forces of our society.

Lines of action and social commitment
The agreement not only seeks institutional collaboration, but also contemplates a series of specific programs aligned with the country’s economic and social development policies. Among the prioritized areas of work are:
- Training in values, leadership, and sustainability.
- Promotion of education and the habit of reading.
- Prevention campaigns against domestic violence.
- Awareness initiatives regarding teenage pregnancy.
- Workshops on civic education and environmental protection.
During the event, JCI World President Alejandra Castillo described this pact as a source of pride, highlighting the relevance of joining forces to achieve sustainable goals. For her part, Patricia Lapaix Alvarado emphasized that the potential of the Dominican Republic is maximized when working jointly and directly with citizens.
The signing ceremony was attended by prominent figures from both organizations, including JCI world and national vice presidents, Jil de Sena and Ambar Guillermo, along with advisors and directors from the DGDC, who reaffirmed their commitment to the country’s social progress.
