Justice in San Cristóbal: Hearing begins against “The Pastor” for child abuse
The Permanent Attention Office of San Cristóbal began this Thursday the judicial process against Ángel Gabriel Capellán, popularly known as “El Pastor”, who is facing a request for a coercive measure by the Public Ministry. The accused is linked to serious accusations that have shocked the local community.
Authorities point to Capellán for his alleged responsibility in crimes of physical and psychological abuse, in addition to the alleged exploitation through forced labor and services. These actions were reportedly perpetrated against minors who were staying at a property linked to the Restaurando Vida “Un Muerto que Revive” Foundation, located in the municipality of Bajos de Haina.
Request for pretrial detention
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has formally requested the imposition of pretrial detention for the defendant. According to the accusing body, there is sufficient evidence and elements of conviction that justify keeping the accused in custody while the relevant investigations of the case are carried out.
Isaías Ramón Muñoz Rodríguez is also implicated in this judicial file, facing the same request for a coercive measure by the authorities. Both individuals are under the scrutiny of the judicial system due to the inhumane conditions in which, according to reports, the children and adolescents rescued from the foundation were found.
The court has the responsibility to thoroughly evaluate the arguments presented by both the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the defense teams, in order to rule on the necessary precautionary measures to ensure the progress of the legal process.
