Community members in Dajabón demand urgent reconstruction of the road to Río Limpio
Agricultural producers, community leaders, and students from various locations in Dajabón and Elías Piña have raised their voices to demand that the Government definitively rehabilitate the road connecting kilometer 14 with the municipality of Río Limpio. Those affected report that the current state of the road is deplorable, hindering daily transit and the economic development of more than 20 communities that depend on this infrastructure.
The situation has reached a critical point, where the lack of maintenance prevents the efficient mobilization of agricultural products to national markets, generating constant losses and logistical difficulties for those who work the land in the area.
A clamor for regional development
During the day of protest, the atmosphere was one of deep despair. Some residents went to the extreme of kneeling to beg the authorities to honor the commitments previously made to these districts. Carlos Valenzuela, spokesperson for the local producers’ association, was emphatic in requesting the direct intervention of President Luis Abinader.

Likewise, Maritza Rodríguez, president of the Río Limpio Student Association, highlighted the negative impact this problem has on the student body, which struggles daily to travel to their study centers under precarious conditions.
The need for a priority project
The community insists that the construction of the kilometer 14–Río Limpio section is not just an infrastructure project, but a vital necessity to guarantee land connectivity, citizen safety, and the viability of the agricultural sector in the province. So far, the competent authorities have not issued an official response nor have they announced concrete plans to begin the repair work demanded by the protesters.
