Internal tension in the PRM of San Rafael del Yuma: Alleged alliance with the opposition denounced
The director of Educational District 12-02, Carmen Alexis Medina, has raised an alarm to the high leadership of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), denouncing a complex internal situation in the municipality of San Rafael del Yuma. According to Medina, sectors of the local leadership are allegedly collaborating with opposition forces in the union sphere, which compromises the cohesion of the ruling party.
The center of the controversy lies with the PRM municipal president, Domingo Pereira, whom Medina points out for allegedly supporting a slate contrary to the ruling party’s faction during the recent elections of the National Cooperative of Teachers (COOPNAMA).
Election results and political fracture
Despite internal differences, the faction linked to the PRM managed to prevail in the COOPNAMA delegate election process in San Rafael del Yuma, obtaining 116 votes compared to the 56 reached by the opposition. However, the official maintains that local leaders of the ruling party had chosen to align their efforts with members of the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) and the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) to support a proposal contrary to the party’s interests.
I call on the national leadership of the PRM to pay attention to the Party’s leadership in this municipality, because betraying the Party by joining forces with the opposition cannot be good when we want to maintain the Government beyond 2028.
Carmen Alexis Medina, director of Educational District 12-02The call for party unity
For Medina, these actions represent a direct contradiction to the strengthening strategy that the political organization seeks to implement with a view to 2028. The district director emphasized that the preservation of power and the institutional solidity of the PRM depend strictly on the ability of its leaders to prioritize dialogue and unity over personal discrepancies.
- Priority: Strengthen the political structure of the PRM in La Altagracia province.
- Warning: Prevent local divisions from benefiting opposition forces in future electoral processes.
- Exhortation: That the national leadership intervene to evaluate the situation and ensure party discipline.
Finally, the official insisted that her complaint seeks to ensure that the party’s structure in San Rafael del Yuma remains cohesive and focused on collective goals, preventing internal conflicts from wearing down the organization’s image and operational capacity in the region.
