Senasa Case 2.0: Coercive measure against the 26 defendants postponed
The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of the National District has decided to recess until this Thursday, September 24, the coercive measure hearing being held against the 26 individuals involved in the judicial process known as the Senasa 2.0 case. The decision was made after exhausting an extensive day of debates this Wednesday.
During the session, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented the evidentiary elements supporting its accusation before the bench. The case file, which spans 525 pages, details the alleged existence of a criminal network made up of active collaborators and former employees of the National Health Insurance (Senasa), as well as various professionals from the healthcare sector.
Accusation details
According to the thesis presented by the prosecutors, the fraudulent scheme operated through the execution of irregular medical claims and authorizations. These maneuvers allegedly had as their primary objective the illicit acquisition of funds belonging to the state Health Risk Administrator (ARS).
Given the gravity of the alleged facts, the prosecuting body has formalized the following requests before the court:
- Imposition of 18 months of pretrial detention for each of the 26 defendants.
- Declaration of the case as a complex litigation process.
It is important to highlight that these accusations are in the initial phase of the process, so the defendants maintain their right to a defense and to present their arguments against the claims of the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The court plans to resume the hearing this Thursday to continue with the analysis of the requested measures and hear the final arguments from the involved parties, before issuing a resolution on the procedural fate of those involved.
