Weather alert: COE maintains surveillance in 10 provinces due to heavy rains
The Emergency Operations Center (COE) and the Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) are maintaining a preventive deployment across the national territory due to the incidence of a tropical wave and the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly. These atmospheric conditions are causing significant downpours and thunderstorms in various regions.
Given this scenario, the authorities have activated the Contingency Plan protocols, ensuring that all relief agencies are on alert to immediately mobilize resources to any area that could be affected by the weather phenomena.
Provinces under Green Alert
The COE has established the green alert level for the following 10 provinces, where the heaviest rainfall is expected:
- El Seibo
- Hato Mayor
- La Altagracia
- La Romana
- Monte Plata
- Samaná
- San Cristóbal
- San Pedro de Macorís
- Sánchez Ramírez
- Santo Domingo
Forecast and precautionary measures
According to INDOMET reports, rainfall accumulations of between 50 and 75 millimeters are projected, which increases the risk of urban flooding in vulnerable zones and transit areas. In addition, moderate winds with occasional gusts have been reported, so it is suggested to secure external objects in homes.
It is essential that citizens do not attempt to cross swollen rivers, streams, or creeks, nor travel through flooded streets. The priority is to preserve life by following the guidelines of official agencies.

Sea conditions have also been subject to restrictions. On the Atlantic coast, from Cabo Engaño to Cabo Francés Viejo, operators of small and medium-sized vessels must remain in port. On the other hand, on the route from Isla Saona to Cabo Engaño, sailors are urged to stay close to the coast.
