COE raises alert levels across the national territory due to forecasts of heavy rains

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has taken preventive measures this Thursday due to the deterioration of weather conditions in the Dominican Republic. Due to the impact of a tropical wave affecting the country, the agency has issued alerts in eight provinces, warning of the risk of urban flooding, as well as the overflowing of streams and creeks.

According to the official bulletin, intense downpours accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts are expected. The moisture transported by the atmospheric phenomenon, which is moving over Haitian territory, will directly impact the southwest, the border area, the Caribbean coastal littoral, and the eastern plains.

Provinces under yellow alert

The yellow alert level has been established for areas with the highest imminent risk, urging citizens to remain on high alert. The provinces under this provision are:

  • San Cristóbal
  • Greater Santo Domingo
  • National District

Provinces on green alert

For its part, the COE maintains the green alert level in five provinces, where the population is advised to stay alert to the evolution of the weather:

  • Barahona
  • Azua
  • Monte Plata
  • San José de Ocoa
  • Peravia

It is essential that citizens stay informed through our official channels and strictly follow the recommendations of emergency response agencies to safeguard lives and property in the face of soil saturation and potential flooding.
