Ciudad Juan Bosch reaches 16,800 families after remarkable housing expansion
The Ciudad Juan Bosch housing complex has registered significant growth in its infrastructure and population during the current government administration. According to official data presented by President Luis Abinader and his team, the project has gone from housing 4,600 families in 2020 to about 16,800 today, consolidating itself as a model of urban development in the country.
Engineer Camel Curi, while detailing the progress, specified that this increase represents the addition of approximately 12,200 homes. The president emphasized that the continuity of this project, initiated in previous administrations, responds to a State policy vision focused on strengthening public works and social welfare.
Financial management and infrastructure reinvestment
The authorities reported on the strategy implemented to clean up the finances of the Ciudad Juan Bosch trust. At the beginning of the administration, the project carried a debt of over RD$4 billion with the Banco de Reservas. Through an efficient management scheme, the Government managed to settle said commitment and generate its own income, which has been fully reinvested in the improvement of the community.
Housing growth must be accompanied by public services and spaces that allow for the improvement of the quality of life for the families residing in the complex.
Luis Abinader, President of the Republic
Among the works executed with the RD$3.6 billion generated by the trust, the following stand out:
- Improvements to streets and access roads.
- Optimization of drinking water and sanitary distribution networks.
- Strengthening of the electrical system.
- Construction of parks and recreation areas.
- Installation of wastewater treatment plants.
- New sports facilities for the community.
New educational projects for the community
With the goal of fostering the comprehensive development of residents, the Government announced the construction of an extension of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in the vicinity of Ciudad Juan Bosch. It is estimated that this project will be completed by the second quarter of 2027.
This initiative seeks to facilitate access to higher education for young people in Santo Domingo Este, allowing them to pursue their university studies without the need to travel to the main campus in the National District, thus reducing travel times and the costs associated with student mobility.
