Weather forecast: Trough will cause downpours and thunderstorms in the country
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) has issued a detailed report on the weather conditions that will affect the Dominican Republic this Tuesday. The combination of a trough at various levels of the troposphere and the influence of the east wind will maintain a humid and unstable environment across much of the national territory.
From the early hours of the day, an increase in cloudiness is expected with passing showers affecting mainly provinces such as La Altagracia, El Seibo, María Trinidad Sánchez, and Samaná. However, the outlook will become more active by the afternoon.
Increased rainfall in the afternoon
For the course of the afternoon, the formation of clouds with significant vertical development is expected, which will lead to moderate to heavy downpours. These meteorological phenomena will be accompanied by thunderstorms, wind gusts, and the possibility of hail in specific sectors.

- Greater Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal
- Monseñor Nouel and Sánchez Ramírez
- La Vega and northern Azua
- Santiago, San Juan, Elías Piña and Dajabón

Regarding tropical activity, Indomet is monitoring an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms in the central subtropical Atlantic. Although the system is moving west/northwest, it has a near 0% chance of cyclonic formation over the next 48 hours and a 40% chance within seven days.
The population is advised to stay hydrated, wear light-colored, lightweight clothing, and avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to mitigate the effects of high temperatures.

Conditions in Greater Santo Domingo
For Greater Santo Domingo, cloudy increases are anticipated during the morning, giving way to downpours with thunderstorms and wind gusts in the afternoon in the National District and the municipalities of Santo Domingo Norte, Oeste, and Este. Maximum temperatures will range between 34 °C and 36 °C, while minimums will remain between 24 °C and 26 °C.
