Charred body found next to vehicle in La Vega mine
A gruesome discovery shocked the residents of the El Pino community, in the La Vega province, where the lifeless body of a man in a charred state was located. The corpse was found this Friday morning inside a mine located near the Duarte highway.
The incident was reported through the 9.1.1 Emergency System, alerting about a vehicle that was on fire inside the mining site. Immediately, units from the Fire Department moved to the scene to extinguish the fire, finding the vehicle completely destroyed by the flames.

After extinguishing the blaze, agents from the Scientific Police and representatives of the Public Ministry arrived at the scene to collect evidence and begin the investigation process. The removal of the body was carried out by the medical examiner, Dr. Polanco, who confirmed that the condition of the deceased makes immediate identification difficult.

Doctor Polanco, medical examinerAccording to the preliminary coroner’s report, it has only been possible to determine that the individual is male. Given the complexity of the case, the remains were transferred to the headquarters of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif) in Santiago.
In said institution, the necessary scientific studies will be carried out to confirm the victim’s identity and clarify the exact circumstances surrounding this tragic event. For their part, the authorities are keeping the investigations open to determine how the fire originated and whether it is a criminal act.
