Absolute calm at the borders of Ceuta and Melilla following mass migration alert

The autonomous cities of Ceuta and Melilla have awakened in an atmosphere of total calm following a day of high tension. The Government of Spain had intensified security measures at both border perimeters in response to various calls spread on social media urging a massive irregular entry of immigrants during this Saturday, an event that ultimately did not materialize.

According to official reports, the Ceuta border crossing, including the Benzú area, remained incident-free during Saturday night and this Sunday morning. Spanish authorities continue to have security measures activated and remain on permanent alert to respond to any eventuality that could compromise the stability of the territory.

Coordinated action between Spain and Morocco

The current stability is the result of close coordination between the security forces of Spain and Morocco. During the day on Saturday, isolated attempts were recorded by groups of people who approached the vicinity of the Moroccan town of Castillejos, near the border with Ceuta. However, the rapid intervention of Moroccan forces managed to contain these movements, preventing the individuals from approaching the Spanish perimeter.

Surveillance remains constant along the entire border perimeter, reinforcing security both at the Tarajal crossing and in the most vulnerable maritime and land areas.

Situation in Melilla

For its part, the city of Melilla also reports a day without setbacks. Despite digital calls to carry out attempts at mass entry, the border crossing is recording minimal influx and no reports of incidents. The security deployment has remained visible both at the border fence and at the southern breakwater, an area that borders the Moroccan port of Nador, which resumed its normal activities after having remained closed for preventive reasons during Saturday.

  • Constant monitoring in the Tarajal area.
  • Active collaboration between Spanish and Moroccan authorities.
  • Reinforced security measures at critical land and maritime points.

Police forces have confirmed that no entry attempts have been recorded in the last few hours, maintaining full control of the area while the situation remains under strict observation by the competent authorities.
