Fuerza del Pueblo requests to declare an educational emergency in the province of Santiago
The spokesperson for the Fuerza del Pueblo (FP) deputy bloc, José David Báez, has made a formal call to the Government to declare the province of Santiago in a state of educational emergency. This request responds to the serious deficiencies faced by various schools, including the lack of spots, overcrowding in classrooms, the deterioration of infrastructure, and the stalling of fundamental works that prevent hundreds of students from starting the school year.
During a meeting with the press in Santiago Oeste, the legislator cited the critical case of the Rafaela Jiminián de Cruz school. As he detailed, this educational center has been out of service for 16 months due to unfinished remodeling work, leaving 780 students without access to classes in the current school year.
The People’s Force (Fuerza del Pueblo) denounces and requests that the province of Santiago be declared in a state of emergency regarding education due to the many difficulties the educational system faces in this province, especially in this northwest area.

Criticism of government management
Báez questioned the statements made by the provincial governor, Rosa Santos, regarding the structural conditions of the Rafaela Jiminián de Cruz school. The deputy demanded that the technical studies validating the official justifications be presented publicly, describing the lack of alternatives for the students after more than a year of waiting as improvisation.
The legislator emphasized that this is not an isolated case, but part of a systemic problem. Following a survey conducted by the political organization, multiple centers with urgent needs were identified, such as:
- Emma Balaguer School (no classes started).
- Teresa Silverio School.
- Carmelo Sandoval High School.
- Cruzada del Amor School.
- Club Noel School.
The FP spokesperson regretted that these deficiencies persist even though the Ministry of Education has a budget of 333 billion pesos, stressing that proper planning would have avoided much of the difficulties that currently affect the student community of Santiago.
The meeting was supported by leaders of the organization’s Political Directorate and community representatives, who joined the call for immediate intervention by the competent authorities to guarantee the right to education for the children and youth of the province.
