Army recovers stolen cattle on the Dajabón border
In an effective surveillance operation on the border line, members of the Dominican Republic Army managed to recover eighteen heads of cattle that had been recently stolen in the Dajabón province. The military intervention prevented the livestock from being illegally transported into Haitian territory.
The action was carried out by personnel stationed at the Libertador Post. While performing their routine patrol duties, the soldiers detected the herd being moved near Pyramid number 23. Upon noticing the presence of the authorities, the individuals responsible for the theft abandoned the animals and fled to an unknown location.
The recovered livestock is under strict military custody, ensuring its protection until the legal verification process for its formal delivery to the owner is completed.
Following the discovery, the owner of the animals, identified as Nelson Taveras, appeared before the authorities to acknowledge the cattle as his property. Taveras reported that the theft had occurred moments earlier on his farm, which was the reason he had requested immediate support from security agencies.
Commitment to border security
The Dominican Republic Army reaffirms its commitment to the security of local producers. The institution maintains constant operations throughout the border area with the goal of eradicating various illicit activities that affect the region:
- Frontal combat against cattle rustling.
- Prevention of merchandise smuggling.
- Reinforcement of surveillance at critical points to ensure the tranquility of border communities.
Currently, the animals remain in a corral near the military detachment, where the necessary administrative procedures are being carried out to return the assets to the affected rancher.
