Alert in Mexico: Possible massive data leak linked to Aeromexico

The Secretariat of Anti-Corruption and Good Governance of Mexico has issued an official alert regarding the potential exposure of confidential information of millions of users, which is reportedly directly related to the airline Aeroméxico. The finding was made following rigorous forensic monitoring of digital security incidents.

According to the federal agency’s report, authorities detected a post made on September 18, 2026, on the messaging platform Telegram. In said message, an anonymous user made available a database that allegedly belongs to the country’s main airline in terms of fleet and connectivity.

Details of the exposed information

  • Data volume: More than 15 million records.
  • File size: 1.10 GB.
  • Compromised information: Full names, email addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, and system registration dates.

This authority obtained a sample of 100,096 records with those same fields, among which the names of various people were identified, including public servants and public figures.

Legal actions and company stance

Given this situation, the government agency has initiated an ex officio investigation to clarify the origin of the leak and determine the corresponding legal responsibilities. The process is being carried out under the powers conferred by the Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties, specifically as stipulated in articles 54 and 55.
