José P. Monegro is awarded for his management of the Central American and Caribbean Games
In an event that highlights excellence and career achievement in the sports field, the Association of Sports Journalists of Santo Domingo (ACDSD) granted a special recognition to journalist José P. Monegro. The tribute took place during the “Acedeísta Excellence, Journalists and Athletes of the Year 2026” gala, held at the facilities of the Hotel Barceló Santo Domingo.
Monegro was honored for his outstanding work leading the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games, an event that marked a milestone in the country’s sports agenda. During his speech, the communicator highlighted the importance of receiving this tribute from his own colleagues.
For me, it is always a source of satisfaction, because these are journalists with whom one has been on the street, reporting, with a microphone, a cell phone, or whatever it may be.

The awardee emphasized that this recognition holds deep sentimental value, as it comes from an entity that closely followed every stage of the regional event’s organizational process. Likewise, he took the opportunity to underscore that the success of the event was the result of a collective effort and the constant support of a great team.

The ACDSD, founded in 1929, reaffirmed with this edition its historical commitment to valuing the contributions of journalists and athletes who drive the development of sports in the Dominican Republic.
