José P. Monegro is distinguished by the ACDSD during the Acedeísta Excellence gala
The Association of Sports Journalists of Santo Domingo (ACDSD) held its traditional gala “Acedeísta Excellence, Journalists and Athletes of the Year 2026,” an event that brought together the most prominent figures of national journalism and sports at the Hotel Barceló Santo Domingo.
During the ceremony, the institution presented a special recognition to journalist José P. Monegro. This award highlights his impeccable management at the helm of the Organizing Committee for the Central American and Caribbean Games, an event that marked a milestone in the recent sports history of the Dominican Republic.
Recognition among colleagues
Upon receiving the distinction, Monegro expressed the profound emotional significance of being recognized by his own professional peers. The journalist highlighted the value of sharing this moment with chroniclers with whom he has traveled a long path in the practice of communication.
For me, it is always a source of satisfaction, because these are journalists with whom one has been on the street, reporting, with a microphone, a cell phone, or whatever it may be.

Monegro emphasized that this award carries a special symbolic weight, recalling that the ACDSD was a fundamental entity that closely accompanied every stage of the organizational process of the Central American and Caribbean Games. Likewise, he took advantage of the setting to emphasize that the success of said event was the result of a collective effort and the constant support received throughout the entire preparation cycle.

The festive atmosphere of the day was enlivened by maestro Ramón Orlando Valoy, who took the opportunity to celebrate his 50 years of a successful career in popular art. With this event, the ACDSD, founded on March 9, 1929, reaffirms its commitment to exalting excellence in sports journalism and the talent of the athletes who hold the tricolor flag high.
