Gynecologist Steven Alexander Rabassa released after investigation in Operation Senasa 2.0
The Public Ministry released gynecologist Steven Alexander Rabassa Fernández this Saturday, after he had been detained in San Pedro de Macorís as part of the investigative proceedings linked to the so-called Operation Senasa 2.0. The decision was made after the authorities evaluated his procedural status within the framework of this case file.
The release was confirmed by the specialist himself, who had the evaluation of Wilson Camacho, head of the Public Ministry’s General Directorate of Prosecution, and Mirna Ortiz, of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca).
I was told that it was part of an investigation into the Senasa case, a case with which I am not familiar nor do I have anything to do with. A due process of investigation was carried out and, thank God, I was granted my pure and simple freedom.

Clarifications regarding your professional practice
Upon leaving the Public Prosecutor’s Office facilities, Rabassa Fernández emphasized that his medical practice is focused exclusively on assisted human reproduction. Based on this argument, he clarified that he does not maintain ties with the health insurance system that is the subject of the current investigation.
- The specialist assured that doctors dedicated to assisted reproduction generally do not operate under the regulations of medical insurance companies.

Details about the break-in
Regarding the operation carried out at his residence prior to his arrest, the physician recounted that the authorities proceeded in accordance with protocols, providing him with the legal documentation and notifying him of his rights. According to his testimony, the agents conducted an exhaustive search of his property.
Rabassa Fernández stated that, during the inspection of his home, the authorities did not find any evidence that could incriminate him or link him to the accusations of the case. Although he highlighted that the agents’ treatment was respectful, he admitted that the situation represented a significant emotional impact for him.
