President Luis Abinader reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the transformation of national infrastructure, highlighting the crucial role that current projects play in boosting the regional economy. During the “LA Agenda” meeting held in Santiago, the president stressed that the main objective is to decentralize progress, allowing communities to generate their own well-being without depending exclusively on the capital.
Amber Highway: Engine of employment and connectivity
One of the strategic axes mentioned is the construction of the Amber Highway, a route that promises a significant economic impact for Santiago and Puerto Plata. According to government projections, this infrastructure will generate nearly 2,000 direct jobs and more than 4,800 indirect ones.
The authorities detailed that the execution of the work will begin simultaneously from both ends, subsequently integrating a third work front that will include a tunnel of high technical complexity, once the corresponding environmental processes are completed.
Development must transcend the limits of the capital, creating self-sustaining productive hubs that guarantee employment opportunities and quality of life in every province of the country.
Monorail and technical training in Santiago
The Santiago Monorail project has not only transformed urban mobility, drastically reducing commute times for workers, but has also established itself as a training hub. Currently, the project employs 2,917 people and, in collaboration with the PUCMM, has trained local youth in the railway industry, ensuring a skilled workforce for the future.
