Luis Abinader highlights the importance of the family role at the start of the 2026-2027 school year
President Luis Abinader led the official opening ceremony of the 2026-2027 school year this Monday, which took place at La Milagrosa school, located in Santo Domingo East. During the ceremony, the president made a strong call to Dominican society, highlighting that the family unit is the fundamental pillar for academic success and the formation of the citizens of tomorrow.
The head of State emphasized that the educational work provided in classrooms must be mandatorily reinforced from homes. According to the leader, the synergy between educational centers and parents is the key to achieving superior academic performance and fostering values of discipline and responsibility in students.

Constant commitment throughout the school year
Abinader urged guardians not to limit their participation to the start of classes, but to maintain active follow-up throughout the entire 2026-2027 school year. This support, he pointed out, should be reflected in the supervision of homework, punctual attendance at schools, and constant interest in the students’ comprehensive performance.
The president reiterated that, although the State makes significant investments in the educational system, emotional support and supervision from home are determining elements that no government plan can replace. The day, which marks the return to classrooms for thousands of students in the country, served as a setting to reaffirm that education is a collective responsibility that requires the full integration of the school community.
