The Dominican political sphere is in mourning following the confirmation of the death of Rafael Pimentel Pimentel, a prominent leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) and former director of the National Institute for Teacher Welfare (Inabima). The news was announced this Friday, causing sorrow among his party colleagues and the community of the Peravia province.
Pimentel, who also served as the municipal president of the PRM in Baní, lost his life at his residence. The political organization issued an official statement deeply lamenting the loss of someone who was a key figure in its party structure and a public servant committed to the well-being of the teaching profession.

During his tenure at the head of Inabima, Rafael Pimentel led important social impact projects for the education sector. His work at the head of the institution extended until February 2026, the date on which he formally resigned from the position due to health complications that prevented him from continuing with his administrative duties.
