Tragedy in Gaza: 11-year-old minor dies after shooting in Khan Yunis
A tragic incident shook the southern Gaza Strip this Wednesday, where an 11-year-old Palestinian boy lost his life after being shot by Israeli troops. The victim, identified as Obaida Osama Al Sheikh Eid, was taking refuge with his family in a displacement camp located in the Bir 19 area, in Mawasi, an area near Khan Yunis.
According to medical reports from Naser Hospital, the minor passed away due to the severity of the wounds caused by the projectiles. Following the incident, his relatives and loved ones held funeral services at the facilities of said hospital.
A high-tension environment
The camp where the minor resided is located in a critical zone, very close to the deployment line of the Israeli forces. In the vicinity, an extensive sand barrier is being erected that crosses the south of the Palestinian territory, intensifying the military presence in the sector.
Inhabitants of the Bir 19 camp have previously reported being fired upon by Israeli soldiers while remaining inside their tents. According to these testimonies, several Palestinians, including minors, have died in similar incidents.
