School Infrastructure strengthens the educational system in Valverde for the 2026-2027 school year
With the goal of ensuring an optimal start to classes, the Dominican Government, through the School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE) of the Ministry of Education, announced the delivery of more than 35 new classrooms and the comprehensive rehabilitation of 31 educational centers in the Valverde province. These actions are part of the efforts to improve learning conditions in the Northwest region.
Engineer Roberto Herrera, Director of School Infrastructure, led a supervision visit to verify the progress of these works. As he explained, the work is part of the “24/7-365” Plan, an initiative promoted by President Luis Abinader and Minister Luis Miguel De Camps to ensure dignified and safe spaces for both the student body and the teaching staff.
Regional impact and collaboration
The provincial governor, Marta Collado, expressed her gratitude for the support received, highlighting that these improvements represent a significant step forward for the local educational community. This vision was shared by Raquel Bautista Báez, director of Regional Education 09, who emphasized the importance of constant monitoring to strengthen the quality of educational service in the area.

During the inspection tour, the authorities visited various educational institutions in the municipality of Mao, among which the following stand out:

- José Francisco Peña Gómez Basic School
- John F. Kennedy School
The interventions were not limited to the construction of new classrooms, but also encompassed exhaustive corrective maintenance. This includes repairs to electrical and plumbing systems, general painting, bathroom upgrades, and the correction of roof leaks, ensuring that the infrastructure is prepared for the 2026-2027 school calendar.
Accompanying Roberto Herrera on this workday were engineer Hipólito García Rosario, zonal manager of the Northwest Line; Pedro Jiménez, manager of Educational District 09-01; the mayor of El Maizal, Jaime Sánchez; as well as the communications team and technical personnel of the DIE, who reaffirmed their commitment to efficiency and quality in public school management.
