Real Madrid keeps hope alive in LaLiga after a dramatic victory over Real Mallorca. A last-gasp goal in the 95th minute prevented Barcelona from being crowned champion, keeping the excitement in the fight for the title.
The match, played at the Santiago Bernabéu, was a whirlwind of emotions. Mallorca surprisingly took the lead thanks to a goal by Martin Valjent. However, Kylian Mbappé, with his 40th goal of the season, equalized the score. Euphoria arrived in added time, when Jacobo Ramón, in his first start, scored the winning goal.
The result puts Real Madrid four points behind Barcelona, who could still secure the championship if they beat Espanyol or in their next two matches.
We don’t give up, despite having 12 injured players, something very unusual. I had never seen a team have 40 shots on goal like today.
Carlo Ancelotti
Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti highlighted the team’s perseverance and the importance of continuing to fight. “We believe in doing our thing, winning what’s left, and seeing what happens,” said the coach.
Madrid faced the match with only 10 players available from the first team, due to the injuries of Andriy Lunin and Brahim Díaz, who joined the list of absences. Ancelotti praised the team’s effort, which made up for the casualties with an extraordinary performance.

Ancelotti praised Jacobo and defender Jesús Vallejo, who assisted in the winning goal despite not having played since September. The coach also announced that Aurélien Tchouaméni will return from his suspension for Sunday’s match against Sevilla, and that Vinícius Júnior, Lucas Vázquez, Díaz, and Lunin could return from their injuries.
Jacobo, a youth player who has only played two matches with Madrid in LaLiga, described the feeling of scoring the winning goal as “inexplicable.” Mbappé, for his part, became the first Madrid player to score 40 goals in his debut season.
Despite this victory, Real Madrid has not achieved any major title this season, being eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals and losing the Copa del Rey final.
