Joey Ortiz to the Injured List; Brewers Adjust Their Roster
Milwaukee has placed Joey Ortiz on the 10-day injured list due to a left hamstring strain, sources reported. This absence leaves the Brewers, leaders of the National League Central Division, without their starting shortstop. In addition to Ortiz’s situation, the Brewers have made other important decisions on their roster.- Jake Bauers, first baseman/outfielder, has been reinstated from the injured list.
- Jackson Chourio, outfielder, has been sent to a rehabilitation assignment with the Triple-A Nashville team.
Murphy announced that Andruw Monasterio will be the primary shortstop while Ortiz is out. Monasterio, 28, is batting .254 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 43 games. Bauers, 29, has been dealing with a left shoulder injury and hasn’t played in the majors since July 18. His batting average is .197 with five home runs and 18 RBIs in 59 games.I felt like I was finally getting into a rhythm, especially offensively, and that I was starting to hit like I know I can. Things happen. It’s baseball. It’s going to happen. I just have to do what I can to get back.
