Josh Taylor Retires from Boxing Due to Vision Problems
Josh Taylor, former undisputed champion, has announced his retirement from boxing at the age of 34, due to a recurring eye injury. Taylor, the first British boxer to become undisputed world champion in the four-belt era, made this decision after receiving medical advice.

As previously made public, I have had a recurring issue with my eye which, unfortunately, means I now have to call time on my career or risk losing my sight.

Taylor will be remembered as one of the greatest Scottish boxers of all time and a legend of the sport in Great Britain, thanks to his achievements. After winning silver at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and gold in Glasgow in 2014, he rose in professional boxing with seven consecutive knockout victories before winning his first world title in his fifteenth fight, defeating Ivan Baranchyk. Taylor won the World Boxing Super Series final in 2019, defeating Regis Prograis at the O2 Arena in London, where he also unified the super lightweight division, obtaining the WBA title. In 2021, he became the undisputed champion, defeating José Ramírez in Las Vegas and adding the WBC and WBO belts to his collection.
