Trent Alexander-Arnold, injured for Real Madrid
Real Madrid’s right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold, will be out of action for more than two months due to a muscle injury, according to club sources reported this Thursday. The diagnosis, after the tests carried out by the Medical Services, revealed an injury to the rectus femoris of the left leg, which will force the English player to begin a new recovery process. The injury comes at a time when the defender was showing his best performance since joining the club on June 12, having strung together four consecutive starts. Alexander-Arnold was substituted due to injury in the 54th minute of the match against Athletic Club at San Mamés, thus interrupting his good run and reopening a complicated chapter in his time with the merengue team. Before this new injury, the Englishman had overcome a hamstring injury in his left leg, which kept him out of action from September 16 to October 26. After his return, he was regaining rhythm in training and had minutes before the international break. This additional time of work allowed him to reach a level that earned him the coach’s confidence to be a starter in four consecutive matches.
Due to the estimated recovery time, Alexander-Arnold will miss around eight league matches, as well as the Spanish Super Cup, the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, and the Copa del Rey rounds that Real Madrid plays until February. The absence of English is added to that of Dani Carvajal, who is still recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will not return until 2026, leaving the club without natural right-backs available. This could lead the coach to use Fede Valverde in that position. On the other hand, Eduardo Camavinga is also doubtful for Sunday’s match against Celta de Vigo, after suffering a slight sprain in his left ankle during the match against Athletic Club.
