Adam Scott Seeks Victory at the Australian PGA Championship

Adam Scott, after a round full of birdies, is in contention for his third title at the Australian PGA Championship. The former world number one and Masters champion, seeks to break a five-year drought without victories in 72-hole events. Scott shot a round of 66 on Saturday, which included eight birdies and three bogeys. This allowed him to briefly share the lead, before finishing at eleven under par and placing ninth. At the top of the leaderboard are several competitors, including Min Woo Lee, Marc Leishman, Anthony Quayle, David Puig from Spain and Ricardo Gouveia from Portugal. All of them could finish ahead of Scott.

It’s hard to complain about a 66.

Adam Scott
Scott, with 32 worldwide victories, hasn’t won a 72-hole event since the Genesis Invitational in 2020. At 45 years old, he is optimistic about his chances of getting more wins and on Saturday he showed that he is in good shape to get his third Kirkwood Cup. Scott commented that he will need a “great round” to have a chance of winning. After a two-hour delay due to rain, Scott managed consecutive birdies on holes 12 and 13, which allowed him to share the lead. However, a bogey on the next hole and a mistake on the 17th delayed him. Scott explained that his focus isn’t on winning itself, but on “checking all the boxes and doing a better job on the things in those boxes.” Despite this, he feels in a “decent position.”
