In the sports city of Alcobendas, Spain, an important forum dedicated to the growth of Dominican football took place. The event was attended by key figures and prominent footballers, marking a milestone in the promotion of this sport.

The forum was headed by Councilor Jesús Tortosa, the Consul of Madrid José Marte Piantini, and the Dominican Republic’s Football Commissioner, Benny Metz.

Panelists and Perspectives

Among the panelists, players from the Dominican Republic national team and European teams stood out, such as Luiyi de Lucas, Peter Federico, and Edgar Pujols. There was also a message from the women’s national team coach, Betzaida Ubri, who shared their experiences in World Cups and Olympics, and offered their vision on the Gold Cup.

The event was moderated by former player Rony Beard, who was also part of the organization.

Development of Dominican Football

Benny Metz led a panel on the development of football in the Caribbean country, alongside coaches Manuel Marinero and José María Amorrotu. Continuous training, investment, and professionalization were promoted as keys to the growth of the sport.

The legal consultant Geremia Alcantara presented a video of Elizabeth Mena, who shared her experience as CEO in the organization of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. The Dominican Consul reiterated the support of President Luis Abinader’s government for sports, highlighting the investment made for the World Cup in the country.

Huascar Jimenez, investment expert, encouraged those present to promote sports projects, highlighting the legal security and economic stability of the country.

Ligia Contreras, advisor to the Alcobendas city council, gave the closing remarks and thanked everyone for their participation.

The event concluded with a display of typical Dominican dance.
