Manchester United Confident in Signing Matheus Cunha

Manchester United are increasingly confident of securing the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer, according to sources close to the club.

United are progressing with negotiations to sign the Brazilian striker, who has a release clause of £62.5 million in his contract with Wolves.

Club sources insist that the focus is on Wednesday’s Europa League final against Tottenham, but sources with knowledge of the deal have described the talks as “in the final stages”.

Manchester United are willing to activate Cunha’s transfer clause and sources have revealed that the 25-year-old player is willing to move to Old Trafford, regardless of whether there is Champions League football next season.

Ruben Amorim’s team needs to win the Europa League in Bilbao on Wednesday to secure a place in Europe’s top club competition.

Amorim is interested in signing Cunha and has identified the former Atlético de Madrid forward as the perfect player to fill one of the number 10 roles in his 3-4-3 system.

Sources have indicated that United has also considered Eberechi Eze of Crystal Palace and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.

Manchester United does not expect problems in signing Cunha. They expect him to agree to adapt to the club’s renewed salary structure, while the directors try to reduce the total wage bill.
