Twins’ Domination: Shutout Victory Over Brewers Extends Winning Streak
The Minnesota Twins, with a solid performance by their starting pitcher Pablo López and the support of three relievers, achieved a resounding victory over the Milwaukee Brewers with a score of 7-0. This triumph marks the third consecutive shutout for the Twins and extends their winning streak to 13 games.
This winning streak is the longest for the Twins since 1991, the year they achieved 15 consecutive victories and subsequently won the World Series.
The Twins have kept their goal at zero since the third inning of the second game of a doubleheader against the Orioles on Wednesday in Baltimore, where they allowed six runs. They have pitched 33 consecutive innings without allowing runs, the longest streak since they moved to Minnesota in 1961 and the fourth-longest in franchise history.
In contrast, Milwaukee has been shut out in four of its last five games, an unprecedented event in franchise history.
Ryan Jeffers was the offensive figure of the match, batting 5-4 with a home run and a double. Kody Clemens also stood out, hitting 5-3 with a home run, on a day when the Twins accumulated 18 hits.
López (4-2) struck out six batters and allowed two hits and two walks in six innings. Justin Topa, Jorge Alcalá, and Kody Funderburk completed the work from the bullpen, pitching one inning each.
The Twins took control of the game by scoring runs in each of the first six innings. Four of those runs were the product of Tobias Myers’ work, who was sent to the minors earlier in the week and then called back when the left-hander José Quintana went on the injured list.
Jeffers opened the scoring with a 420-foot home run to left-center field in the first inning. He also hit a double and scored in the third, and a single in the fourth and eighth.
Myers (1-1) allowed 11 hits in 3 2/3 innings, striking out four and not conceding any walks.
