Newcastle United close to signing Yoane Wissa

Newcastle United is on the verge of finalizing a deal for £55 million (74.4 million dollars) to secure the services of Yoane Wissa, Brentford’s forward. Sources close to the club have confirmed that the player will undergo medical examinations this Monday.

After agreeing to a British record transfer of £130 million for striker Alexander Isak, Newcastle is looking to replace the Swedish international. Eddie Howe’s team hopes to close the signing of Wissa before the market closes.

Despite interest in Jørgen Strand Larsen, Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, sources indicate that Newcastle will not proceed with the signing of the Norwegian international if they reach an agreement with Wissa before the deadline.

Wissa, 28, hasn’t played for Brentford this season, after asking the club to let him join Newcastle during the preseason.

After seeing his former teammate Bryan Mbeumo leave the Gtech Stadium to join Manchester United at the beginning of the summer, Wissa expressed his desire to leave the club.

After a long stalemate, Brentford have given the player the green light to move to St. James’ Park.

Also, Reiss Nelson is close to joining Brentford on loan from Arsenal.

The 25-year-old forward was on loan last season at Fulham.
