Chris Froome Hospitalized After Accident in France
The renowned British cyclist, Chris Froome, is hospitalized after being hit by a car while training near Saint-Raphaël, France. The news, which has generated concern in the cycling world, was confirmed this Wednesday.
Froome, multiple champion of the Tour de France, was transported by helicopter to a medical center in Toulon, where he remains under observation. So far, the Israel-Premier Tech team, to which the cyclist belongs, has not issued an official statement detailing Froome’s state of health or the severity of the injuries suffered.
The incident occurs at a crucial moment in Froome’s career, who has achieved significant victories throughout his career.
Born in Kenya in 1985, Froome has achieved an impressive record, including seven victories in Grand Tours: four Tours de France, two Vueltas a España, and one Giro d’Italia. In addition, he has a total of 46 victories, solidifying himself as one of the most outstanding cyclists of the last decade.
His last great triumph was in the 2018 Giro d’Italia.
Following his departure from Team Sky/Ineos in 2020, Froome joined Israel-Premier Tech in 2021, where he is currently in the final year of his contract.
