Sports Courts Delivered in Santo Domingo Norte: Boosting Youth Sports

The Ministry of Youth, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office of Santo Domingo Norte, has materialized the delivery of sports courts in various sectors of the municipality. This initiative, framed within the “Una Cancha Pa’ Mi Barrio” and “Juventud con B de Barrio” programs, has the main objective of promoting healthy recreation and the integral development of youth. The award ceremony took place at the Santo Domingo Norte City Hall. The event was attended by the Minister of Youth, Carlos Valdez, and Mayor Betty Gerónimo, along with local authorities, community leaders, and young beneficiaries.

These courts are a tool to boost talent, promote values, and continue building safer environments for our youth.

Carlos Valdez, Minister of Youth
During his intervention, Minister Carlos Valdez emphasized that this program seeks to provide concrete opportunities to young people in their communities, providing adequate spaces for sports practice and coexistence. Mayor Betty Gerónimo highlighted the active participation of the Mayor’s Office in this project. She explained that the study carried out by the city council allowed the identification of the areas with the greatest need for sports facilities, which facilitated a more effective intervention. She emphasized that these actions directly contribute to the well-being of the communities and strengthen the social fabric in the municipality. The realization of this project was made possible thanks to the joint work between the Ministry of Youth and the Municipality of Santo Domingo Norte. The territorial survey carried out by the local government served as the basis for the implementation of the program. “A Court For My Neighborhood” is integrated into the strategies of the Ministry of Youth aimed at expanding access to sports and generating development opportunities for young people throughout the country.
