Liverpool Surpasses £200 Million in Player Sales
Liverpool has surpassed the £200 million mark in player sales this summer. The most recent transaction involves young winger Ben Doak, who joins Bournemouth.
Doak, 19, has signed a five-year contract with the “Cherries”. The deal is valued at £25 million.
The player was signed from Celtic in 2022 for £600,000. In his first two years with Liverpool, Doak played 10 matches and was on loan at Middlesbrough last season, where he scored three goals in 24 matches.
This sale adds to those of other important players who have left the club this summer, including Luis Díaz, Darwin Núñez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhín Kelleher and Jarell Quansah. The income from these sales will help offset a spending on transfers that exceeds 300 million pounds sterling.
Liverpool could still increase this figure, as they maintain interest in Crystal Palace center-back Marc Guéhi, and Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, which could mean an additional expense of at least 150 million pounds.
In addition, more departures from Anfield are expected. Kostas Tsimikas, now third-choice left-back after the arrival of Milos Kerkez, is linked with Nottingham Forest.
Midfielder Harvey Elliott continues talks with RB Leipzig, who will likely make a formal offer once the future of Xavi Simons, a Chelsea target, is decided.
It is rumored that West Ham was also interested in the English under-21 international, but the Bundesliga seems to be the most attractive option for him at the moment.
