INABIE suspends more than 40 school kitchens following recent bidding process
The National Institute of Student Welfare (INABIE) has made the decision to suspend the operations of more than 40 school kitchens, which had been selected just three weeks ago to provide lunch service in educational centers of the national public system.
The measure was confirmed by the entity’s executive director, Adolfo Pérez de León, who offered details regarding this administrative adjustment during a recent interview. According to what was stated by the official, the institution remains vigilant regarding the performance and compliance of the contracted suppliers to guarantee the students’ nutrition.
Actions following questioning
This decision comes after the awarding process was subject to various allegations and external audits. Given the public questioning regarding the transparency and criteria used for the hiring of suppliers, the INABIE management has proceeded with the disqualification of these establishments.
