Alias “El Mello” killed during clash with Police in Santiago
In an operation carried out in the city of Santiago de los Caballeros, Dilson Humberto Reynoso Cruz, known in the criminal underworld as “El Mello” or “Mandrake,” lost his life this Thursday night following a shootout with National Police officers.
According to the official report from the authorities, the subject was actively sought for his alleged connection to multiple violent crimes that occurred in the provinces of Santiago and San Francisco de Macorís. Agents from the Central Directorate of Investigation (DICRIM) managed to locate the individual in a sector of the city, triggering the confrontation.
Operation details
The preliminary version from the police indicates that, upon noticing the police presence, Reynoso Cruz ignored the orders to stop. Instead, he allegedly responded by firing at the officers with a firearm he was carrying illegally. After the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was seriously wounded, subsequently dying due to the injuries sustained.
The operation is part of the pursuit actions against individuals accused of serious crimes and homicides in the Cibao region.
Criminal record
Reynoso Cruz had several outstanding arrest warrants. Among the files attributed to him, judicial order number 2026-AJ0073606 stands out, linked to a shooting recorded on August 18, 2026, in the Nueva York Chiquito sector, located in Nibaje, Santiago.
