Camp Nou will host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final
The UEFA Executive Committee has made official the venues that will host the finals of its most important European competitions in the coming years. In a meeting held in Thessaloniki, the organization confirmed that the Camp Nou stadium, home of FC Barcelona, has been selected to be the stage for the men’s Champions League final in 2029.
For the year 2028, the final of the top continental competition will be played at the Munich Arena, a venue that is shaping up to be a key point in the European football calendar. These decisions mark an important milestone for the blue and garnet stadium, which, after its renovation, will consolidate itself as the venue with the largest capacity in Europe, hosting 104,600 spectators.
A history linked to the great finals
The Camp Nou is no stranger to these types of events, as it has already witnessed historic moments in European football. The Barcelona stadium hosted the unforgettable 1999 final, where Manchester United made a comeback against Bayern Munich, and the 1989 European Cup final, when Milan triumphed over Steaua Bucharest. Currently, the venue is a fundamental part of the bid for the 2030 World Cup, where Spain, Portugal, and Morocco aspire to host the opening match and the final.
With a projected capacity of 104,600 spectators, the Camp Nou is preparing to once again be the center of global attention in 2029.
Other venues confirmed by UEFA
- Women’s Champions League: The 2027-2028 edition will be played at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais, while the 2028-2029 edition will take place at the National Stadium of Wales, in Cardiff.
- Europa League: The National Arena in Bucharest will host the 2028 final and the National Stadium of Serbia, in Belgrade, will be the venue for 2029.
- Conference League: Turin will host the 2028 final at the Juventus Stadium, and the Puskas Arena in Budapest will do the same in 2029.
- UEFA Super Cup: Amsterdam (Johan Cruyff Arena) will be the venue in 2027, moving to Astana in 2028.
Likewise, UEFA ratified that the Futsal Champions League final will be held at the Bienne Arena in Switzerland, thus completing an ambitious calendar that seeks to distribute the excitement of football throughout the European geography in the coming years.
