Tragic accident on Santiago’s South Beltway leaves one dead
A tragic traffic accident recorded early this Tuesday on the Circunvalación Sur avenue in Santiago resulted in the death of a woman and left a man in critical condition. The vehicle in which they were traveling collided violently with an electric utility pole, causing the unit to be practically split in two.
The roar, which alerted residents in the surrounding areas around 2:00 a.m., was described by neighbors as a massive explosion. Upon leaving their homes, the community members encountered a devastating scene, where the car showed severe structural damage after the impact.
It was as if the sky had fallen on him; a heavy blow, as if the whole world had collapsed. One was sleeping and woke up to such a shocking roar.

Following the impact, eyewitnesses confirmed the woman’s death at the scene of the accident, while the driver was rescued and rushed to a nearby health center due to the severity of his injuries.

Although the competent authorities are still conducting investigations to determine the exact causes of the accident, neighbors in the area have preliminarily pointed out that speeding may have been a determining factor. However, residents took advantage of the situation to raise their voices and request urgent improvements to the area’s infrastructure.
