Aníbal Germoso proposes transforming public transport to optimize mobility in the Dominican Republic

Civil engineer and creator of the Accidentes RD platform, Aníbal Germoso, has put forward a strategic solution to combat the mobility crisis affecting the country: the modernization and optimization of public collective transport. According to the specialist, this sector must be the absolute priority to decongest national roads.

Germoso maintains that the key for citizens to choose to leave their private vehicles at home lies in efficiency. A robust and reliable transport system would not only facilitate the daily commute of thousands of people, but would also significantly reduce the vehicular congestion observed on the main arteries of the Dominican territory.

A necessary paradigm shift

The expert stressed that the misconception persists in local culture that owning a private vehicle is the only symbol of social progress. This perception has fostered an excessive dependence on the automobile, which, added to the lack of quality mass transit alternatives, has aggravated traffic problems.

We have to bet on collective public transport, but we must add the word efficient to it to somehow discourage people from wanting to continue using an individual vehicle.

Compliance with Law 63-17

In addition to the improvement in services, Germoso made an energetic call to the authorities to rigorously apply the provisions of Law No. 63-17, which regulates Mobility, Land Transportation, Transit, and Road Safety in the Dominican Republic.

According to the specialist, current legislation has a solid foundation and a series of regulations that, if executed correctly, would mark a turning point in road safety and traffic flow. The great challenge, in his view, is to move from theory to the effective implementation of these rules in the day-to-day life of Dominican cities.

These statements are part of a national debate on the urgent measures required to reduce road congestion, seeking alternatives that guarantee smoother and safer transit for all sectors of society.
