Justice in San Cristóbal: Hearing begins against “The Pastor” for alleged child abuse
This Thursday, the San Cristóbal Courthouse becomes the stage where the judicial fate of Ángel Gabriel Capellán, nicknamed “El Pastor” or “Capellán,” and Isaías Ramón Muñoz Rodríguez will be decided. Both men face serious charges after being accused by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of committing crimes of forced labor and abuse against minors.
Accusation details
The investigation indicates that the defendants operated under the guise of the Restaurando Vida Foundation, also known as “A Dead Man Who Revives,” located in the municipality of Bajos de Haina. According to the reports presented by the authorities, the minors who were in the establishment had been victims of various abuses, including:
- Subjection to forced labor or mandatory services.
- Recurrent physical and psychological abuse.
- Violations of current regulations under laws 137-03 and 136-03, which protect children and adolescents.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office has been emphatic in its request, requiring the imposition of pretrial detention for both individuals, considering the severity of the damages caused to the victims and the nature of the offenses committed in the exercise of their duties within the foundation.
