Pilot unharmed after helicopter crash in Guastatoya
A Long Ranger type aircraft, with registration TG-CHV and owned by the company CHOPAIR, crashed this Monday, August 24, in the municipality of Guastatoya, department of El Progreso. The incident, which took place at 14:15 hours, immediately mobilized the authorities of the General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) to begin the pertinent investigations.
Fortunately, the unit’s pilot, identified as Hugo Hernández, was unharmed after the mishap. Specialized personnel from the DGAC Accident Investigation Unit traveled by air to the scene of the accident to assess the terrain conditions and collect evidence to clarify the causes of the crash.
The DGAC has confirmed that this is preliminary information and that technical teams are already working in the area to establish the exact conditions under which this aeronautical event occurred.

According to flight tracking records, the aircraft had taken off from La Aurora International Airport at 14:05 hours, maintaining communication until 14:21 hours, at which point it was in the vicinity of Guatemala City.
