School Infrastructure accelerates the delivery of new campuses in Santo Domingo Este
The School Infrastructure Directorate of the Ministry of Education (MINERD) is in the final stage of construction of the Cancino Adentro I Basic School, also known as Santiago Hirujo Sosa. With progress exceeding 95%, this educational center is ready to be integrated into the 2026-2027 school year, which will begin next week for the benefit of the Santo Domingo Este community.
The new campus is designed to positively impact more than 880 students from the area and its surroundings. The structure has 25 classrooms distributed across three modules, including specialized spaces for early childhood education, meeting the highest standards of educational quality.
Commitment to education and the 24/7-365 Classrooms Plan
The high level of progress of the educational center will allow for its timely delivery to be inaugurated in the coming days, as part of the efforts of the 24/7-365 Classrooms Plan promoted by the Dominican Government to transform the quality of education throughout the country.

It is important to highlight that this project remained stalled for more than 12 years, becoming one of the most heartfelt demands of the residents of Cancino Adentro. Under the current administration, the work was resumed and accelerated to respond to the needs of the local educational community.
Expansion of the educational network in SDE and Boca Chica
The School Infrastructure technical team, led by engineer Roberto Herrera, conducted a supervision tour in various areas to verify the progress of other strategic projects. Among the schools visited are:
- El Tamarindo High School: 24 classrooms for 840 students.
- Camila Henríquez Ureña Primary School: 10 modular classrooms for 350 students.
- Andrés Boca Chica I Childcare Center: 8 classrooms for 300 children.
- José Francisco Peña Gómez Project: 29 classrooms, a double sports court, and administrative offices for more than 1,000 students.
These interventions are part of a comprehensive strategy guided by President Luis Abinader and the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to ensure dignified and safe spaces. In total, the works in Santo Domingo Este and Boca Chica will benefit more than 2,000 students, adding more than 60 new classrooms to the national education system, thus consolidating the commitment to improve access and the quality of learning in the Dominican Republic.
