Fugitive wanted by the U.S. for murder captured in Santo Domingo West
In a strategic joint operation, agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and representatives of the Public Ministry, with the support of the U.S. Marshals, managed to capture a Dominican citizen who was internationally wanted for serious crimes. The arrest was carried out in the Santo Domingo Oeste municipality as part of the efforts to pursue fugitives from foreign justice.
The detainee, identified as Ramón Martínez, who also goes by the names Ramón Arturo Ortega Concepción or «El Negro Amante», 44 years old, was intercepted on First Street in the Villa del Café Segunda sector. He was subject to an arrest warrant issued by the Second Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice of the Dominican Republic, in response to an extradition request from U.S. territory.
Criminal charges and seized evidence
The defendant faces severe accusations in a Puerto Rico court. According to the records, he is directly linked to the following charges:
- First-degree murder.
- Attempted murder.
- Illegal possession and carrying of firearms.
- Charges for discharging and pointing firearms.
During the capture operation, the authorities seized a vehicle and an HS-2000 pistol, equipped with its magazine and several rounds, as well as relevant documentation that will be integrated into the ongoing investigation.
This arrest reaffirms the unwavering commitment of the Dominican security forces in their collaboration with allied agencies to combat transnational crime and ensure that those who evade justice face the consequences of their actions.
Following his arrest, Martínez was placed at the disposal of the corresponding judicial authorities to initiate the formal extradition process to the United States, where he must answer for the charges brought against him.
